Dropbox is a cloud based file sharing platform that allows anyone to upload and share with others. Users can also sync docs, files, videos and photos and access them with any device no matter where they are. Founded by Arash Ferdowsi and Drew Houston who were students at MIT, they came up with this concept after repeatedly forgetting their flash drive. After launching Dropbox, it grew incredibly fast and today it has over 500 million registered users around the world. The total amount of funding raised is $1.7B and the company is currently a publicly traded company under the ticker symbol DBX.
